📖 Exam Preparation Notes

Overview

Corrigendum vacancy circular (dated 10 October 2026) from the Department of Financial Services inviting applications for selection to the posts of Presiding Officer in Debts Recovery Tribunals (DRTs) across India. The notification lists current and anticipated vacancies at multiple DRTs and states vacancies may arise up to 30.04.2027.

Eligibility (as per the official notification)

As stated in the notification (and Rule 25 of the National Tribunals Rules, 2026), a person shall not be qualified for appointment as Presiding Officer of a DRT unless he/she is, or has been, a District Judge, or is, or has been, a member of the Indian Legal Service in Grade I or above; other terms are governed by the Tribunal Rules and the Tribunal Reforms Act, 2026.

Preparation Strategy

  • Gather and attach the up-to-date CR/APAR dossier (at least 2021-22 to 2025-26) and any prior ACR/APARs with No Report Certificate if applicable (notification requires these documents).
  • Prepare the short (≤200 words) write-up on adjudicating and administrative experience and a clear statement of number of cases disposed in the last two years — these are explicitly requested and used in evaluation.
  • Assemble documentary proof of eligibility (tenure as District Judge or service in Indian Legal Service Grade I) and obtain cadre clearance and vigilance/integrity certificates before applying.
  • Prepare for the personal interaction: focus on qualification, adjudication experience, administrative experience and case disposal figures — final selection is based on overall evaluation including personal interaction.
