📖 Exam Preparation Notes
Overview
Corrigendum (dated 10 October 2026) from the Department of Financial Services invites applications for the posts of Chairperson, Debts Recovery Appellate Tribunals (DRATs) — specifically for DRAT Allahabad and DRAT Kolkata — and any unforeseen vacancies arising up to 31.12.2026. Applications must be submitted in the prescribed proforma (Annexure‑I) with supporting documents and reach the Under Secretary (DRT), Department of Financial Services, New Delhi by 5:00 PM on or before 09.11.2026.
Eligibility (as per the official notification)
As stated in the notification, eligibility follows the National Tribunals Commission and Qualification, Selection and Conditions of Service Rules, 2026: a person must (i) be, or have been, a Judge of a High Court, or (ii) have been a member of the Indian Legal Service at the level of Additional Secretary to the Government of India or above, or (iii) have held the office of Presiding Officer of a Debts Recovery Tribunal for three years. (Notification cites Rule 25 (VII) and Rule 28; see source URL).
Preparation Strategy
- Prepare a concise, up-to-date Annexure‑I biodata and ensure the 200‑word write‑up on adjudicating & administrative experience is clear and concrete (the write‑up is required in Annexure‑I).
- Collect and attestate the APAR/ACR dossier for at least the last five years (2021‑22 to 2025‑26) and obtain required cadre/vigilance clearances (Annexure‑II/III).
- Organise documentary evidence for the specific eligibility clause you claim (High Court tenure record, Indian Legal Service rank proof, or DRT presiding‑officer tenure), and list major/minor penalties (if any) for the last 10 years as required.
- Prepare for the personal interaction/interview: rehearse discussing adjudication experience, case disposal numbers and administrative decisions — selection is on overall evaluation of qualification, experience and personal interaction.
