Exam Syllabus
1. General Studies:
Indian History and National Movement: Key events, leaders, and movements in India's history.
Geography of India and the World: Physical, political, and economic geography, including rivers, lakes, and seas.
Indian Polity and Constitution: Structure, functions, and various aspects of the Constitution and political system.
Indian Economy: Basic economic concepts, economic development, and current economic issues.
2. General Science: Fundamental concepts in physics, chemistry, biology, and environmental science.
History, Geography, Economy, and Culture of Jharkhand: Specific focus on Jharkhand’s regional history, geographical features, economic conditions, and cultural aspects.
3. Current Affairs: Important events at the national and international levels, including contemporary social, political, and economic developments.
The preliminary exam consists of 150 questions, each carrying one mark, and is to be completed in 2 hours.
B. Main Exam Syllabus
1. General Hindi and General English:
These papers are qualifying in nature, requiring a minimum score to pass.
They assess the candidate's proficiency in essay writing, comprehension, and grammar.
General Studies Paper I:
This paper delves deeper into topics covered in the preliminary exam, with a focus on more detailed and analytical aspects of general studies.
2. Optional Subjects:
Candidates must choose two papers from a list of optional subjects, which include:
Agriculture, Forestry, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Zoology, Botany, Environmental Science, Geology, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Chemical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science.
Each optional paper is designed to test specialized knowledge in the chosen field, critical for the role of a Forest Range Officer.
