Exam Syllabus

1. General Studies: Indian History: Ancient India, Medieval India, Modern India. Geography: Physical Geography, Economic Geography, World Geography, Indian Geography. Indian Polity and Governance: Constitution of India, Indian Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy. Economic and Social Development: Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc. Environmental Studies: Ecology, Biodiversity, Climate Change, Environmental Pollution, Conservation. 2. General English: Grammar: Parts of Speech, Tenses, Articles, Prepositions, Conjunctions, etc. Vocabulary: Synonyms, Antonyms, Idioms & Phrases, One-word Substitution. Comprehension: Reading Comprehension passages and questions based on them. Writing: Essay Writing, Precis Writing, Letter Writing. 3. General Awareness: Current Affairs: National and International events, Sports, Awards and Honours, Books and Authors, etc. Static GK: Important Days, Capitals and Currencies, Countries and Capitals, Famous Personalities, etc. Science and Technology: Basic concepts of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and recent developments in Science and Technology. 4. Subjects: Candidates have to choose one or two optional subjects from a list provided by the Assam PSC. These optional subjects typically include subjects like History, Geography, Political Science, Sociology, Economics, Philosophy, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, etc. The syllabus for optional subjects is usually similar to undergraduate or postgraduate level curriculum depending on the subject chosen. 5. Essay Writing: Candidates may be required to write essays on topics of national or international relevance. Topics may range from socio-economic issues to philosophical or environmental themes. 6. Personality Test: Candidates who qualify the written examination are called for an interview or personality test. The purpose of the interview is to assess the candidate's suitability for administrative roles, leadership qualities, communication skills, and overall personality. 7. Current Affairs Preparation: Stay updated with current affairs through newspapers, magazines, online portals, and news channels. Make notes of important events and revise them regularly. Practice answering MCQs (Multiple Choice Questions) related to current affairs. 8. Study Resources: Refer to NCERT textbooks for basics of subjects like History, Geography, Political Science, etc. For optional subjects, refer to standard textbooks, reference books, and study materials recommended by experts. Solve previous years' question papers and mock tests to understand the exam pattern and practice time management.
